Crackdown on SOP violators continues

The State Police Department continued its crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic.
The police, as a part of the crackdown, detained 307 persons who did not wear face masks, did not observe social distancing in public places etc today, said a press note issued by Police.
The violators were however released them later after warning, the note said.
Further, Police also collected a fine of Rs 96,600 from SOP and restriction violators across the State as per law, it said.
The Police Department also warned of strong legal actions under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws to the SOP and restrictions violators.
As of now the Police has collected a sum of Rs 1,98,03,900/- as fine from SOP violators.
