Man held for sexually assaulting minor girl

Ukhrul , May 8: A man was arrested by Ukhrul police for sexually assaulting a 11 year  old girl at Kamjong district.
The minor girl  was allegedly assaulted by the accused on April 20 at Kamjong.
According to reports, the accused person entered the room of the girl while she was sleeping  along with her younger sister and cousin.
The parents of the girl were away from home, and taking advantage of their absence, the man raped the girl. The report also mentioned that the accused threatened the girl with dire consequences if she informed anyone of the incident.
However, the younger sister of the victim revealed the whole incident to their parents.
Acting on the complaint of the parents, Ukhrul district police arrested the accused on May 5 and a case was registered against him in Ukhrul police station.
The accused was later remanded to police custody till May 12 by the CJM Ukhrul.
