KAKCHING, May 7: A team of Kakching Range Office and Pallel Beat Office went to Pallel Loukon in Unapal Road today and destroyed nets and other items used for trapping birds and burnt down four huts which was used for keeping such items.
The team went to Pallel Loukon after receiving reliable input that some miscreants are trapping birds using nets and other items however the team were not able to apprehend the miscreants.
Regarding today's drive, Naorem Munal Meitei, Range Forest Officer/Kakching said that it is really unfortunate that some individuals are resorting to illegal acts of trapping birds amid the worsening situation of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed by the Government to curb the further spread of this deadly pandemic.
Stating that the birds are the major contributors in pest control therefore everyone should collectively ban the illegal trapping and killing of birds.
Further he appealed to all to protect and safeguard the birds in the State.
