IMPHAL, May 8 : The Transporters and Drivers Council  (TDC) handed over one basic life support ambulance to All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union (AMRTDMWU) , today.
Briefing journalists at  Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai, TDC president Ranjit stated that the ambulance was entrusted to  AMRTDMWU for aiding drivers and handymen operating on National and State Highways during emergency.
Mentioning that many precious lives have been lost on the highways due to the unavailability of treatment facilities there, Ranjit expressed hope that the ambulance will address the healthcare-related issues faced by the drivers/handymen on highways to some extent.
Ranjit also applauded  Medilane for providing a set of first aid kit for the ambulance.
General secretary of AMRTDMWU, Maimon Anil, while thanking TDC for entrusting the ambulance said that the union will do its best to help the drivers/handymen in need of medical assistance.
Saying that the union received a report of the State police detaining/harassing drivers transporting essentials at some areas, Anil urged the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
