Accused remanded till July 3

IMPHAL, Jun 19 :  A Guneshwar Sharma, Special Judge POCSO Imphal West on Saturday remanded Rupesh Singh, a non-local who is accused of 'kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl' on the intervening night of June 10 and 11 to judicial custody.
Rupesh Singh (25), s/o (L) Chandramohan of South West Delhi Gitorni village, currently staying at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak was produced before the Court through video conferencing after the completion of police custody period along with a prayer for remanding him to judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that on 10 June a complaint was lodged by the father of the victim, stating that his daughter who went out of their room at around 6 pm of June 10, failed to return.
During the investigation,  the victim was rescued from inside a jeep (Mahindra Bolero) which was parked at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak Kelli Makhong.
During an examination,  the victim revealed that the accused sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle.
Saying that the accused was arrested the same day (June 11) and the vehicle seized,  the IO continued that the accused admitted to having committed the offense charged against him.
 The Court after hearing and on perusal of the case record and material produced remanded  the accused to judicial custody till July 3.
