AMUCO joins hands with EKTA Parishad in carrying out yeomen service

The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) is collaborating with EKTA Parishad, Manipur in extending forms of help to the working class people and landless citizens affected by COVID-19 second wave.
As a part of the philanthropic campaign, the bodies distributed edibles viz- potatoes, salt, papad and 'Kabok' to 392 landless and poverty stricken households in 9 different locations of Imphal East district.
EKTA Parishad's State co-ordinator, A Rishikanta Sharma; chief of the steering committee and Imphal West's district in-charge, S Tania Chanu also took part in the campaign, said a statement released by Asst General Secretary-AMUCO.
In all 127 households in Nongpok Sanjenbam, 68 in Oksu Ningthemcha, 55 in Takhel, 22 in Nongpok Kakching, 22 in Leimakhongpal, 40 in Chana, 54 in Nongdam, 25 in Nongren and 35 in Nongpok Heirok, the release said.
The distribution programmes are being organised to alleviate the hardships caused due to prolonged curfew and restrictions imposed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the release said.
The bodies will also continue similar work in other places, the bodies said while appealing to other philanthropists and social workers to join hands in carrying out the noble activities.
The bodies also drew the attention of the State Government to assess the condition of these landless citizens and consider preparing a special package to lessen hardships caused by the pandemic.
It is estimated that there are more than 1 lakh landless citizens in the State, the release continued while adding that the Government should provide all sorts of possible assistance to help these people sustain as well.
