Police fine SOP violators

The Police Department collected a sum of Rs 72,950/-(Rs seventy two thousand, nine hundred and fifty only) from 154 SOP violators today.
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,27,91,110/- (Rs two crore, twenty seven lakh, ninety one thousand and one hundred ten only) as of today.
Despite the increase in penalty for SOP violators and various restrictions imposed by the Government in order to contain the spread of the virus, the public continues to break the guidelines.
