KANGPOKPI , Jun 19: After the Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairmen/Chief's Association (AHLAVCCA) warned of intensified agitation, all the affected landowners from various areas organized a sit-in protest under the aegis of Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairmen/Chief's Association (Gamgiphai to Taphou Kuki) at their respective places along National Highway-2.
The land affected victims appealed to the State Government to honour the land survey conducted by DC/LA Kangpokpi and revoke & rectify all land acquisition orders and resolved the issue at the earliest.
Land-affected victims from the Kalapahar area staged a sit-in protest at Kalapahar Bazar along National Highway-2.
The protesters in all the locations displayed placards with the slogan "Don't play with our rights'', " Our land is our life", "No development at the cost of violation of landowner's rights'',  "Implement LARR Act in letter and spirit", "No compensation No Work", " We will fight for Justice till last", etc.
At Kalapahar, Milan Pradhan, one of the affected victims said that we are not against any development but not at the cost of our land without proper compensation and also without the consent of the landowners.
"We believe in the present ruling Government's Saab ka Saath, Saab ka Vikas but if it happens to be Aap ka Saat Hum Barbat we will never accept it", he asserted.
At Keithelmanbi, Dehlam Lhouvum, who is also the Chairman of Keithelmanbi Village Authority said that the Government must first revoke and rectify all land acquisition orders and honour the survey conducted by DC Kangpokpi.
At the Bongmol protest, Neneng Lunkim, one of the land affected victims said that all the people want is to honor the land survey conducted by DC Kangpokpi and fair compensation.
Sit-in protests were also staged at Bimparao, Motbung, Saparmeina, Charhajare and Gamgiphai.
Meanwhile, the Thadou Students' Association Sadar Hills extended its support towards the land affected victims and the AHLAVCCA.
TSA Sadar Hills stated that the association has been monitoring the issue of highway expansion, widening, etc and have found that the demands of the  AHLAVCCA are legitimate.
The student body urged the State Government to fulfil the legitimate and genuine demand of AHLAVCCA at the earliest while condemning the Government's declaration of the stretch of land between Gamgiphai and Kalapahar as Government land in its Gazette notification.
TSA Sadar Hills further cautioned that it would endorse and support any movement of AHLAVCCA to bring justice to all the affected victims while adding that it would not remain a mute spectator.
