PANDM hails Court's decision

The People Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) welcomed the decision of remanding Rupesh Singh, a non-local who is accused of 'kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl' to judicial custody.
In a press release, PANDM lauded the Police Department for their timely action thereby filing an FIR under POCSO Act and remanding the accused to judicial custody for 15 days and commended the team led by OC of Imphal West for the speedy investigation in the case.
PANDM also hailed the State Government for establishing a Special Court of POCSO and working in accordance with the wishes of the people.
Stating that the accused has committed a heinous crime by sexually assaulting a minor girl for a whole night, PANDM urged the authorities concerned to provide stringent punishment to the accused and should also probe whether there were any accomplices involved in the crime or not.
Further PANDM sought the attention of District Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committee and Department of Social Welfare in the case to provide interim compensation under POCSO Act to the victim at the earliest and thanked the authorities for taking up necessary measures including medical examination and counselling of the victim and the family till date.
The People Action for National Democratic Movement also appealed to all especially landlords to rent out rooms to those tenants who can provide valid identification proofs as per the Inner Line Permit System to ensure that such crimes  do not recur. Lastly PANDM stressed on the need to issue proper guidelines for the effective implementation of ILPS and to differentiate between the natives of the State and the non locals.
