527 out of 4491 test positive to take positivity rate to a high of 11.3 pc

The State in the past 24 hours recorded 8 deaths and as many as 527 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 taking the total number of active cases to 9,613.
527 Covid positive persons from general population (262 male and 265 females) were tested at RIMS (30), JNIMS (20), District Hospitals (331) and other testing centres (146), said a press release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 527 cases were detected out of a total of 4491 samples in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is a high of 11.3 percent, making it one of the highest in the month of June.
As per the release, Imphal West registered highest number of cases (169) followed by Imphal East (78), Bishnupur (66), Thoubal (62), Kakching (51) Churachandpur (45), Kangpokpi (20), Ukhrul (10), Tamenglong (9), Jiribam (7), Chandel (3), Tengnoupal (3), Senapati (2), Kamjong (1) and Noney (1).
Two persons each from  Imphal East and Thoubal and one each from Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching and Churachandpur succumbed to the virus at different health care facilities viz- RIMS (1), JNIMS (4), District Hospital Thoubal (2) and District Hospital Churachandpur (1).
The cumulative number of deaths has gone up to 1047.
The case fatality rate for today stands at 1.64 percent.
In the meantime, 444 persons were discharged. Of the total discharged, 288 were from home isolation, 30 from RIMS, 12 from JNIMS and the remaining 114 persons from Covid Care facilities, it said.
With the addition of 527 new positive cases, the cumulative number of positive cases is 64,065 (general population- 60,263 and Central Security Personnel-3,802), it said while adding that cumulative number of recovered cases is 53,405 (general population-49,644, Central security personnel-3,761).
Of the total active 9613 cases, 9,577 are from the general population and 36 are Central security personnel. The recovery rate is 83.36 percent.
The release further said that a total of 1643 D-Type Oxygen cylinders and 367 B-Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
The total number of persons vaccinated as per the latest information available is 4,93,501, it added. Again no separate list on how many out of the total have received their second shot has been given.
