Many continue to protest against price hike of fuel and essential commodities

As a continuation of its 15 day series of protest against rising price of essential commodities, Left Parties staged a sit in at Mongshangei Boroi Makhong in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC today.
Speaking at the protest, Kangjam Manoranjan, member, Revolutionary Party (RSP) said it was high time the mistakes committed by the Central Government were corrected for the welfare of the public.
The sit-in was also attended by L Sotinkumar, secretary, CPI Manipur; Ksh Shanta, secretary, CPI(M) Manipur; Sarat Salam and RSP leader P Maipak.
Meanwhile, the leaders and members of All Manipur Nupi Marup staged sit in protests at various places across the State yesterday protesting against the exorbitant hike in fuel prices.
The sit in protests were staged at important locations in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts as per the directives of National Federation of Indian Women Headquarters, New Delhi.
On the other hand, spokesperson of Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council, RK Amusana stated that the people's protest against rising price of fuel and essential  commodities as it has impacted the lives of many tremendously.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at his residence at Khurai Sajor Leikai, he said that the increasing prices of fuel has added more woes to the already suffering masses due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Talking about the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 in the State, he said that the preventive measures taken by the Government is too slow and unsatisfactory leading to the increase of positive cases and fatalities.
Though there is a high probability of the onset of the third wave of COVID-19, he expressed concern that Government has not taken up any measures to initiate the vaccination drive for children.
He further alleged that present Government is responsible for the present scenario and urged to all concerned to reduce the prices of essential commodities and fuel instead of playing blame game trying to divert the issue. He appealed to the Government to take up immediate measures in the interest of the people.
