Lowest case of 353 with highest positivity rate of 15.5 pc recorded

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : Manipur recorded the lowest number of positive cases in 24 hours with a figure of 353 today but recorded the highest positivity rate at 15.54 percent, reflecting the low number of tests conducted (2272) and the high penetration of the virus amongst the people.
All the 353 cases were drawn from the general population, with no one from Central security personnel reporting positive.
The 353 figure of positive cases is the lowest recorded in June this year, but the daily positivity rate is the highest this month, as records maintained by The Sangai Express show.
The total of 353 positive persons include 193 females.
According to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room today, the positive cases were detected at RIMS (8), JNIMS (12), District Hospitals (152) and other testing centres (181).
For the second day on the trot, Manipur recorded deaths in single digit with 8 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. On June 20, the State had also recorded 8 deaths.
The dead persons belonged to Imphal West (1), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1) and Senapati (1).
They passed away at RIMS (5), JNIMS (1), Raj Medicity (1), and CCC Lakoipat (1).
With eight more deaths, the cumulative number now stands at 1055.
The 353 civilians who tested positive were drawn from Imphal East (88), Imphal West (98), Thoubal (32), Bishnupur (55), Kakching (45), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (13), Chandel (2), Tamenglong (10) and Noney (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 64,418 (general population-60,616 and Central security personnel-3802).
In the last 24 hours, 660 persons were discharged out which 343 were from home isolation, 16 from RIMS, 8 from JNIMS, 93 from CCCs and 200 from CHICs. The total number of recovered cases is 54,065 (general population-50,304 and Central security per- sonnel-3761). The recovery rate is 83.92 percent and the number of active cases is 9298 (general population-9262, Central security personnel-36).
A total of 1882 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 287 B-Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres in the last 24 hours.
The total number of persons vaccinated now stands at 4,94,104.
