Police fine SOP violators

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : The Police Department collected a sum of Rs 61,900/ (Rs sixty one thousand, nine hundred only) from 171 SOP violators today.
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,28,91,610/- (Rs two crore, twenty eight lakh, ninety one thousand, six hundred and ten only) as of today.
Despite the increase in penalty, the public has continue to break the guidelines.
