Kpi reports 22 new COVID-19 positive cases; 1 death

KANGPOKPI, Jun 22: Kangpokpi district reported 22 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the total number of active cases in the district to 103.
Following the reported death of a 33 year old mother from Motbung Model village today at RIMS Hospital Imphal, the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Kangpokpi has climbed to 36. The latest victim, Maunching w/o SL Kamkhohao of Motbung model village under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub Division in Kangpokpi passed away this afternoon at around 12:23 pm at RIMS Hospital Imphal.
She was survived by her husband, SL Kamkhoao and her three years old son.
She was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening and succumbed this afternoon. Later, she was buried at Motbung Model village cemetery following strict COVID-19 protocols.
Meanwhile, the Covid Task Force of Kangpokpi AC intensified preventive measures in their respective areas and continued to embark on various Covid related activities.
CTF Irang area embarked on mass vaccination today at Panikheti Irang Part-II Government High School in collaboration with the former local Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills, BP Vikas Basnet, the medical department, and Central Task Force T Waichong under the supervision of the local MLA, Nemcha Kipgen.
Altogether, 210 individuals from eight villages were vaccinated during the vaccination drive.
Speaking on the occasion, BP Vikas Basnet expressed profound gratitude to the local MLA, medical department, and others for their sincere and dedicated involvement in the vaccination drive.
CTF Kalapahar embarked on sanitizing the PHC Kalapahar and its surrounding areas following a request from the medical team while assisting the medical team in sealing the residence of Home Isolation patients and contact tracing of the recently detected COVID-19 positive patients.
CTF Kangpokpi participated in a short discussion and awareness seminar at the office Chamber of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS, District Hospital Kangpokpi where basic technicality and "Do's and Don't" were imparted to the Covid Task Force leaders.
It may be noted that as per instructions of the local MLA, CMO i/c Kangpokpi Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate issued a memorandum on June 19 stating that in order to streamline the coordination in the fight against COVID-19, necessary awareness and orientation to Covid Task Force on Covid Appropriate Behaviour shall be imparted so they could ensure Covid appropriate behavior among the general public.
Meanwhile, it is reported that with an aim to improve COVID-19 vaccination under 50-Kangpokpi assembly constituency, Nemcha Kipgen will be launching the COVID-19 Vaccination Vehicle under Kangpokpi AC tomorrow for transportation of any willing individual to the vaccination site at IB Hall, Kangpokpi.
