NEW DELHI, Jun 6
India on Sunday reported 1,14,460 new coronavirus cases, according to the data by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry. This is the lowest number of cases reported in the last two months. With this, the coronavirus tally stands at 2,88,09,339.
With 2,677 more fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll has climbed to 3,46,759, data from the Health Ministry showed.
On the other hand, daily recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases for the 24th consecutive day. Steady rise in National recovery rate is maintained; recovery rate increases to 93.67%. A total of 2,69,84,781 people have recuperated so far. Of this, 1,89,232 recovered in the last 24 hours.
At 5.62%, fall in daily positivity rate continues; which is less than 10% for 13 consecutive days, according to Union Health Ministry.
The active cases have further reduced to 14,77,799 comprising 5.13 per cent of the total infections.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 36,47,46,522 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 20,36,311 samples tested on June 5.
Meanwhile, the Government has denied that its new policy is creating vaccine inequity. India has administered 23,13,22,417 vaccine doses so far. Maharashtra leads the race in vaccination with 2,40,22,331 vaccine doses administered, followed by UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases on May 4.
