India reports 1 lakh new cases, lowest in 2 months

India has reported the lowest daily Covid-19 case rise with 1 lakh new cases in the past 24 hours. This is the lowest single-day rise in Covid-19 cases in over two months.
India has recorded 1,00,636 fresh Covid-19 cases and 2427 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry. India’s total Covid death toll has now neared 3.50 lakh while the total case tally is at 2,89,09,975.
With this, India's active caseload has further declined to 14,01,609 while the active cases decreased by 76,190 in 24 hours.
The total number of recovered cases is at 2,71,59,180 while in the past 24 hours, 1,74,399 discharges were recorded.
Recoveries continue to outnumber the daily fresh Covid-19 cases for the 25th day in a row as the recovery rate has gone up to 93.94%. The weekly positivity rate is currently at 6.21%.
The daily positivity rate is at 6.34% and has been less than 10% for 14 consecutive days.
The top five states which have registered the maximum Covid cases are Tamil Nadu with 20,421 cases, followed by Kerala with 14,672 cases, Maharashtra with 12,557 cases, Karnataka with 12,209 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 8,976 cases.
68.4% of the new cases have been reported from these five states with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 20.29% of the new cases. India Today
