YAS Minister flags off 'blessing rally' for Olympic-bound athletes

Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Letpao Haokip  flagged off the ‘Blessing Rally’ for 5 (five) athletes from the State and also 1 (one ) athlete from Mizoram who will be participating in different fields in the Olympic Games 2020 due to be held from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan.
The rally was organised by Sports Authority of India, NERC, Imphal.
The Minister praised the athletes for being selected to represent the country through their dedication and hard work in their respective fields and added that these athletes are the reason that the State is known as ‘Sports Powerhouse” in the country.
He wished state athletes along with the one from Mizoram to bring laurels to the State and the country.
He informed that the State Cabinet has already decided to give Rs 25 lakh each to all the five participants and a reward Rs 1.25 crore to any gold medalist, Rs 1 crore to silver medalist and Rs 75 lakh to any bronze medalist.
The ‘Blessing Rally’ was also attended by Francis Marwien, Regional Director, SAI-NERC, Imphal apart from SAI officials, family members and other well wishers.
