Aztecs Sports Manipur leads in producing professional boxers

IMPHAL, Jul 15
As many as three pugilists groomed by Aztecs Sports Manipur have successfully participated in the 'ALL STAR PROFESSIONAL BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP' held at Marine Center, Mumbai on July 9 last.
The event was organised by 'MARINE PRO-BOXING' which is recognised by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) and International Boxing Association (IBA), said a press release of Aztecs Sports Manipur.
The three boxers who featured in the said professional boxing event are Raju Ke-isham, Bonjovi Nongmaithem and Nongpoknganba Meitei.
The pugilists  were accorded a warm reception upon their return yesterday at Bir Tikendra  International Airport by Aztecs Sports Manipur which has become the first sports academy in Manipur to produce and promote professional boxers.
Speaking at the reception programme, Aztecs Sports Managing Director Dr (PhD) Thangjam Parma-nanda  stated that Manipur holds strong potential in the field of combat sports and martial arts.
As combat sports are suited to the State's soil, Manipur will continue to produce more eminent athletes and Olympians in the future, he added.
