IMPHAL, Jul 23 : Local e-commerce stores have expressed anguish over the detention of delivery executives by police personnel on the ground that local e-commerce service is not permitted.
A press release of the United Committee on Deliver Executives, stated that e-commerce delivery service was resumed after an order of the Chief Secretary exempting e-commerce delivery service from the curfew being imposed.
However, delivery executives were detained by police personnel stating that local e-commerce are not permitted and only big e-commerce companies such as Amazon, Myntra, etc are permitted to resume service, it said.
Such act of the police personnel is unreasonable and illogical as per the notification issued by the State Government, the committee, which comprises of various functionaries of local e-commerce stores (Freshcart, Food Wifi, SF Delivery, Taste of Imphal, Book Tou) said.
The committee further stated that the act of the police personnel has created confusion over what kind of e-commerce stores are permitted and which are not.
The local stores are delivering only essential items to customers by risking lives to help people during this pandemic. All employees are regularly tested and observe SOP strictly while discharging their service, the committee said and urged the State Government to look into the matter and address the public.
