Congress, CPI-MSC, CPI (M) hail Mirabai Chanu

IMPHAL, July 24 : The Congress Party also joined in congratulating Saikhom Mirabai Chanu on winning a medal for India after more than a decade.
Former Indian National Congress chief, Rahul Gandhi congratulated Mirabai Chanu on her incredible feat and winning the silver medal, said a press release of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
AICC-in-charge of Manipur and former Union Sports Minister Bhakta Charan Das, who is in Imphal, also congratulated Mirabai Chanu on winning an Olympic medal for the Nation, the release said.
He, at Congress Bhavan in Imphal, expressed pride of being in Imphal when India gets its first medal in Tokyo Olympics and shared the congratulatory message of Congress president Sonia Gandhi for Mirabai, it said.
Expressing happiness, Das, who was also the Union Sports Minister, stated that the Nation is proud of the daughter from the soil of Manipur, it said.
Congress MLA and MPCC vice president (media), K Meghachandra, former Minister Kh Ratan and other Congress leaders were present when the congratulatory notes were being shared, the release added.
Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC), Communist Party of India (M) also expressed pride and extended their greetings to Mirabai on winning the silver medal at the prestigious event.
The parties, in separate notes, also wished success in her future endeavours.
