Anticipatory bail sought for FB post

IMPHAL, Jul 26 : In connection with the anticipatory bail application filed by Omen Achom for his Facebook post, Session Judge Imphal West has directed the Officer-in-Charge of Imphal Police Station to furnish a detailed report of the case on July 31.
Omen Achom (32), s/o Sanatomba of Khonghampat Mayai Leikai filed the anticipatory bail through his counsel along with a prayer for granting pre-arrest bail.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that Omen Achom uploaded a few statements on Facebook from his account Captain Murugan on July 24 that read, “OMG… Chinese girl from Manipur won Olympic silver for India. Why did India hire this Chinese girl who are fit to be only in Spa, Salons and Restaurants, who are slut shamed for wearing tiny clothes who are often asked what’s your rate? Who are often sexually molested, raped and harassed in mainland India and by the paramilitary forces at home. Nation wants to know!!”  
The petitioner counsel also submitted that people of the North East India have regularly been subjected to certain forms of abusive treatment along with slur and vulgar languages and that the petitioner has no any ill motive, ill intention to cause or promote any social chaos, incitement between or amongst the different groups or religious communities and prejudicial to the State.
Considering the distasteful language (however so innocent as alleged) used on the post, the Court observed that there is no ground to grant interim protection to the petitioner at the present stage and prayer for granting interim pre arrest bail has been fixed on next date.
Accordingly, the Court directed OC Imphal Police Station to furnish a detailed report regarding the FIR/matter and fixed 31 July for the next hearing.
