IMPHAL, Jul 26 : The Peoples' Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) has urged the State Government to make quarantine manda-tory for people entering the State, as done in the first wave of the pandemic.
Suggesting several measures to flatten the Covid curve in the State, the PTFC-19, in a statement, said that exempting quarantine for incoming road and air passengers will only worsen the Covid situation in the State.
The committee further urged the Government to improve the  infrastructure and intake capacity of the Community Home Isolation Centres (CHICs) and Covid Care Centres (CCCs).
Saying that CSOs and Covid Task Force operating in localities are also  playing a pivotal role to check the spread of coronavirus, the PTFC-19 appealed to all concerned to take the contribution of CSOs and Covid Task Force with utmost seriousness.
There seems to be loopholes in enforcement of total curfew and lockdown as these measures have failed to arrest the virus spread, the Task Force said and opined that completing the Covid  testing and vaccination drive whilst the restrictive measures are in place is imperative to contain COVID-19.
It opined that imposing Constituency wise curfew and completing Covid testing and vaccination drive of the Constituencies on turn by turn basis by employing all available resources of the Health  Department in the shortest possible time is a viable option to vaccinate the entire adult population of the State. The only options available to save lives from the Covid infections are testing and vaccination.
