Vehicle slips off highway

MOREH, Jul 27 : A man had a narrow escape as the vehicle (Maruti Eeco) which he was driving slipped on the muddy road stretch between Khongkhang and  Lokchao on Imphal-Moreh road and plunged into a gorge on July 24 last, reports our correspondent.
The road widening project on the stretch is reportedly being taken up by a company Nithin Sai Constructions under NHIDCL.
Taking strong exception,  a team of Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moreh Block visited the accident site to take stock of the condition of the highway stretch.
By the sidelines of the visit, joint secretary of KSO Moreh Block, Mangpilen Dymown Touthang charged that the accident could have been avoided had the work agency stationed a worker to caution the travellers of the muddy road conditions ahead and works underway.
He urged the company to make its stand clear on the matter at the earliest.
