46,617 new cases, 853 deaths reported

NEW DELHI, Jul 2
With 46,617 new Covid-19 cases registered in India in the last 24 hours, the country's case tally climbed to 3,04,58,251 on Friday. The current death toll, as per Union Health Ministry data, stands at 4,00,312 with the addition of 853 fatalities.
The country's active caseload, meanwhile, has declined to 5,09,637, which is 1.67 per cent of the total cases at present. A net dip of 13,620 cases has been recorded in the total number of active Covid-19 cases in a span of 24 hours.
As many as 59,384 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, with the recovery rate having been increased to 97.01 per cent. The total number of recoveries in India, as per Government data, is 2,95,48,302 now, besides a case fatality rate of 1.31 per cent. Daily recoveries have outnumbered the number of daily new cases for the 50th consecutive day on Friday while the case fatality rate stands at 1.31 per cent, the data stated. At 2.57 per cent, the weekly positivity rate in the country on Friday remained below 5%. The daily positivity rate, at 2.48%, was recorded below 5 per cent for the 25th day in a row.
The bulletin released by the Government also stated that testing capacity has been substantially ramped up. A total of 41.42 crore tests have been conducted so far, it stated.
India’s cumulative Covid vaccination coverage, the bulletin added, has reached 33,96,28,356, as per a provisional report. The Government said that more than 38.17 lakh doses were administered till 7 pm on Thursday.
The Indian Council of Medical Research, meanwhile, said 41,42,51,520 samples were tested for Covid-19 up to July 1. Of these, 18,80,026 samples were tested on Thursday, it added.  Times of India
