India reports 46,164 new cases in last 24 hrs

NEW DELHI, Aug 26
India on Thursday reported 46,164 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the highest in nearly two months. With this, the overall tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has gone up to 32,558,530, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 9 am.
Kerala continues to report the most number of new cases. Of 46,164 cases recorded in the last 24 hours in the country, 31, 445 were from the State alone.
With 607 new fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll has further climbed to 4,36,365.
The active caseload has increased. At present, the country has over 3.3 lakh active cases. The National recovery rate is currently at 97.63%. With 34,159 more people recovered in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries stand at 3,17,88,440.
According to Health Ministry's release, the weekly positivity rate is 2.02%, which is less than 3% for last 62 days, while the daily positivity rate is at 2.58%, which is less than 3% for last 31 days,
A total of 51,31,29,378 samples have been tested so far to detect Covid-19. Of which, 17,87,283 samples were tested yesterday, according to ICMR.
Under the Nationwide vaccination drive against Covid-19, the country has administered 60.38 crore vaccine doses so far.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases on May 4 and 3 crore cases on June 23.             Times of India
