38,628 cases reported

NEW DELHI, Aug 7 : India has reported 38,628 new Covid-19 cases and 617 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s active caseload to 4,12,153.
The Covid recovery rate in India now stands at 97.37%.
The country also reported 40,017 recoveries in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
So far a total number of 4,27,371 people have died of Covid-19 in India.
The active cases constitute 1.29% of total cases and the weekly Test Positivity Rate(TPR) remains below 5%.
The top five States which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 19,948 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 5,539 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 2,209 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,985 cases, and Karnataka with 1,805 cases.
81.51% of the new cases are reported from these five States, with Kerala alone responsible for 51.64% of the new cases.
India has also crossed a significant milestone of administering 50 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses under the ongoing Nationwide vaccination drive.
