Meiraba settles for bronze at BWF Victor Ukraine Intl Badminton Tournament-2021

IMPHAL, Sep 10 : Manipur's Maisnam Meiraba Luwang settled for a bronze medal at the BWF Victor Ukraine International Badminton Tournament-2021 organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Kharkiv Regional State Administration Kharviv City Council, Kharkiv Badminton Federation and Badminton Federation of Ukraine.
Meiraba, who recently won gold at the Yonex Latvia International Future Series Badminton tournament in Jelgava on his senior debut suffered a 17-21, 17-21 loss to Priyanshu Rajawat in an all Indian semi-final clash to finish with the bronze medal.
Earlier in the quarter final, Meiraba secured a 21-14, 21-10 over compatriot Kevin Arokia Walter following a 21-12, 21-9 win over Chirag Sen in the pre-quarter final round yesterday. In the round of 32, Meiraba got the better of Ukrainian Oleksandar Shmundyak 21-8, 21-19 on September 8 after easy wins in the qualifying round matches.
In the three qualifying round matches scheduled on September 7, Meiraba thumped Hlib Derevianko of Ukraine 21-7, 21-5 and Andrej Antoska of Slovakia 21-14, 21-11 and Malaysia’s Kok Jing Hong 7-21, 21-14, 21-12 to make it to the main round.
