India logs 33,376 new cases, 308 deaths

NEW DELHI, Sep 11
India recorded 33,376 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Saturday. This is 4.6 percent lower than the daily case count of 34,973 cases recorded on Friday. There are 3,91,516 active cases in the country at present, which is 870 more than what was reported the previous day.
Additionally, India reported 308 Covid-19 fatalities in 24 hours on Saturday, taking the total reported toll to 4,42,317.
A total of 32,198 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing India's total recoveries to 3,23,74,497. India's recovery rate now stands at 97.49 per cent.
The weekly positivity rate in the country is 2.26 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 78 days. The daily positivity rate is 2.10 percent currently. A total of 15,92,135 samples were tested for Covid in the last 24 hours.
STATE-WISE COVID DATA
The five States which registered the most number of cases on Saturday are Kerala with 25,010 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,631 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,608 cases, Karnataka with 967 cases and West Bengal with 753 cases.
Nearly 90 per cent of the new cases were reported in these five States, with Kerala alone responsible for 74.93 per cent of them.
The maximum Covid-19 casualties on Saturday were reported in Kerala (177), followed by Maharashtra with 44 daily deaths.
INDIA'S VACCINATION DRIVE
India administered a total of 65,27,175 Covid-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses administered across the country under the Nationwide vaccination drive to 73,05,89,688.     On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chaired a high-level meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the country. Sources said PM Modi also reviewed the Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country during the meeting.         India Today
