27,254 new cases logged in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI, Sep 13
India on Monday reported 27,254 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s coronavirus tally to 33,264,175, according to data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at 9 am.
The count of daily new cases has remained below 50,000 for 78 consecutive days now, according to the Ministry.
The death toll has further climbed to 442,655, with 219 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.
In a sigh of relief, the number of active cases in the country declined by 10,652 in the last 24 hours. Currently, the active case tally stands at 3,74,269.
The total number of people recuperated from Covid-19 has now reached 32,447,032. In the last 24 hours, 37,697 more people discharged after recovering from Covid-19. The weekly positivity rate is 2.11%, which is less than 3% for last 80 days. The daily positivity rate stands at 2.26%, which is less than 3% for last 14 days.
In the last 24 hours, 12,08,247 samples were tested for Covid-19. Under the Nationwide vaccination program, started on January 16 this year, 74.38 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
