Jagat Prakash Nadda, National President, Bharatiya Janata Party
Today is the Birthday of one of the world’s most popular leaders and our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji. His highly impressive 20-year-long journey in electoral politics, first as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and now as the Prime Minister, makes him one of the longest-serving elected leaders. The charisma of Narendra Modi, his strong political and emotional bonding has swayed the people of India. So, when a top international rating agency’s survey tells us that Narendra Modi is the world’s most popular political leader, we Indians are not at all surprised.
Shri Modi is not just our Prime Minister; he has evolved as a reformer who passionately raises social issues plaguing India and then effectively addresses them through public discourse and participation. The success stories of campaigns like Open Defecation Free India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao-BetiPadao and Namami Gange Abhiyan are the sterling examples of it.
Shri Modi considers himself ‘Pradhan Sewak’ who believes in the holistic development of our society and country through good moral and social values. He never shies away from his responsibilities and always leads from the front in addressing the Nation’s most complex and difficult problems, and does not rest till the goals are achieved. His integrity in social and political life is unquestionable. He has led the life of a sage who has worked tirelessly for the creation of a just society and a powerful Nation.
Did Indians ever believe that Article 370 and 35A will be abolished ? Several decades were lost to achieve this important goal. But everything changed on August 5, 2019. The Nation saw the strong willpower and unwavering commitment of Shri Narendra Modi which led to the abolition of Article 370. It fulfilled our pledge of ‘One Nation, One Constitution’ and made Jammu and Kashmir the integral part of India.
Similarly, no previous Governments showed the courage to tackle terrorism decisively and just did lip service. It was Shri Narendra Modi who, through surgical strikes and air strikes, gave stern messages to terrorists, anti-India forces and the world. The Prime Minister’s message was loud and clear – India has changed; it is no longer a soft State; India will go all out to protect its people and borders.
After Honourable Lal Bahadur Shastri ji, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is the only leader who has electrifying effect on the masses and on whose call the entire Nation gets united. During the Corona pandemic, Shri Modi’s appeals were religiously followed by every citizen, which proved to be a game-changer in India’s fight against the pandemic even as the world’s most powerful Nations struggled to cope with the deadly virus. On his clarion call, donations poured in the PM Cares Fund, voluntary organisations came forward to help citizens and people shunned their apprehensions to join the world’s largest and fastest vaccination drive. So far over 75 crore people have been administered vaccine shots, which is a world record.
One of his stellar qualities is quick decision-making which differentiates him from his predecessors as well as his contemporaries. He stunned the world by developing the ‘Made In India’ Corona vaccine in record time and ramping up medical oxygen supplies within days when the Corona crisis deepened. This is the charisma of our ‘Pradhan Sewak’. Shri Modi has also changed the thought process of every Indian and transformed India’s political work culture. Indian politics was earlier plagued with casteism, dynasticism, appeasement and nepotism. All this has now changed under Shri Modi who has proved that being in politics means to serve the people and the country without any fear or favour. The Government is for everyone irrespective of caste or creed, State or region. The ‘Pradhan Sewak’ has laid a strong foundation of developmental politics.
Prior to 2014, manifestos of political parties just used to be a tool to garner votes. But since Shri Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister, every word written in the BJP’s election manifesto is sacrosanct for the ‘Pradhan Sewak’. It has become the most important guide for our Government. Today, people and political parties are realizing the importance of a manifesto. This is an important visible change that our Prime Minister has brought in our Nation’s polity.
The buzzword of the Narendra Modi Government’s work culture is ‘Pragati’ (Proactive Governance And Timely Implementation) which ensures timely delivery of projects and programmes sans corruption and nepotism. This has led to completion of projects which had been stalled for over decades. His other important initiative is mygov.nic.in – the website he launched with the thought of connecting directly with the people. Through the hugely popular ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister converses directly with the people.
The Prime Minister is also the torch-bearer for our children and a great motivational ‘Guru’. Through his unique initiative of ‘Pariksha Per Charcha’, he not only relieves exam-related stress in our students but also gives them confidence and motivates them.
Extraordinary personality, impeccable image, effective and efficient leadership, foresighted decisions, compassion and patience as well as the zeal to do the best for citizens are some of the qualities of Shri Modi which are reflected every day in his political and social life. He has always led a disciplined life–from being a ‘Bal Swayamsewak to becoming the ‘Pradhan Sewak’.
On the world stage, he took diplomatic relations with the US, European and Gulf countries to a new level. India also proved its mettle in the recently-concluded Olympics and Paralympics. All this has been achieved as we have a decisive, strong, compassionate and go-getter Prime Minister at the helm.
Shri Narendra Modi ji has devoted his entire life for uplifting the standard of living of the farmers, Dalits, women, downtrodden, marginalised, and the youth. As the pandemic rages on, around 80 crore people in the country are being provided free foodgrains. Free medical insurance worth Rs 5 lakh has been provided to 55 crore people through the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Life insurance and accidental insurance cover is being offered for just Rs 330 and Rs 15, respectively. Around 12 crore farmers in the country, 80% of whom are small and marginal farmers, are being provided annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 under the Kisan Samman Nidhi. A new paradigm is being set for affordable housing for the poor where homes are equipped with water, electricity and LPG cylinder connection.
Even today our Prime Minister gets excited discussing prospects of devoting his life for the development of the country. His passion for Yoga has made the world realise the prowess of India’s rich culture and tradition. International Yoga Diwas on June 21 is his gift to humankind. His energy and stamina is an inspiration for all of us.
The BJP has always celebrated the birthday of Shri Narendra Modi as ‘Sewa Divas’. Under his leadership, the party works on the motto of ‘Sewa Hi Sangathan’. On his birthday, the BJP party cadres are working to fast-track the Covid vaccination programme across the country. Blood donation camps have been organised across the country and free foodgrains are being provided to the poor. Every help and assistance is being offered to the needy on this day. Today, we should take inspiration from the life of our Prime Minister and pledge to work for the Nation and welfare of the citizens.
Shri Narendra Modi’s stupendous success is the result of his absolute dedication towards people’s welfare and wellbeing, ensuring ‘Sabka Saath-SabkaVikas’ and firm belief in ‘Nation First’. His only aim is to make India a ‘Vishwaguru’. There are many leaders in the world today who have created a different image for themselves. However, most of them are known for just one or two major initiatives during their career. But our Prime Minister has several path-breaking initiatives to his credit, which will always be remembered by India and the world.
