IMPHAL, Sep 19: A medical camp cum sapling plantation programme 'Sanghanlasi Iramdam' was held at Kadi village in Tamei Sub-division of Tamenglong district today.
The programme has been jointly organised by Community of Civil Society Kangleipak (CCSK), Kadi Village Authority, SIMS and UPRECK.
Speaking on the occasion, president of CCSK, Jitendra Ningomba said that the programme has been organised in remote places with an aim to strengthen the bond of love and trust between the people of the valley and the hilly region. And saplings have been planted to retain the ecological balance which have been deteriorated considerably due to felling of trees for industrial and other purposes, he added.
He further stated that under this initiative, it is aimed to plant fifty thousand saplings in different hilly regions of the State and also sought for support and cooperation from the public for the cause. Expressing concern over the deplorable conditions of roads and bridges and the absence of Primary Health Centre in Kadi village, he appealed to the authorities concerned to address the grievances of the villagers at the earliest.
