IMPHAL, Sep 19 : KSA president Sukham Bidyananda has categorically stated that the Covid pandemic is greatly disturbing the academic career of students due to the restriction placed on opening schools/colleges and at the same time people are gathering unchecked in the name of elections at different locations.
Addressing a one day panel discussion programme on "Reopening of schools, colleges and universities in Manipur" at Hotel Classic Grande, Bidyananda stated that the panel discussion was organised to discuss the cost and benefit of opening schools and colleges at this moment and the preventive measures required for doing so.
Though there is restriction on opening schools and colleges, a number of people are constantly gathering for election related activities here and there, he said and added 'this, however,  doesn't mean we should reopen educational institutions instantly without consideration.'
The programme organised by KSA and moderated by RK Nimai (retd IAS) was attended by medical experts, journalists, teachers, parents and others. The resolutions taken during the programme will be submitted to the Government, he added.
Saying that students are bearing the brunt of Covid-19 as prolonged closure of educational institutions affect their academic calendar, he added  that gathering for election related activities, on the other hand, are continuing   rampantly.
"Restriction on opening shops has been lifted, mass gathering is increasing, but schools are still closed," he asserted and added that KSA doesn't advocate opening schools in a rush but this erroneous system needs  correction.
