FB comment lands youth in custody

IMPHAL, Sep 20 : Duty Magistrate Imphal West yesterday remanded one Nongmaithem Boboy (22) to three days police custody for making a comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a Facebook post.
Producing Nongmaithem Boboy, son of Saratkumar of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West, the IO of the case submitted that Boboy had on September 17 commented  “Modi gi thi Sengo Yenge” to a Facebook post.
The screenshot of the comment received by Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West from Social Media Monitoring Cell was reported to SP CID Crime Branch on September 19 before it was forwarded to SP Imphal West, the IO submitted.
The accused was arrested yesterday and his phone has been seized, the IO submitted. On examination, the accused had admitted the charges leveled against him and the IO prayed that the accused be remanded into police custody for three days. The Duty Magistrate on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to police custody till September 21.
