RK Suraj joins Lok Janshakti Party

IMPHAL, Sep 21: RK Suraj, son of former Chief Minister RK Dorendra, who is preparing for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election has announced that he will contest the election for Yaiskul AC from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
Speaking at a press conference held at his residence in Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leikai, RK Suraj said he had decided to contest the election following the footsteps of his late father and added that he had actually planned to give Civil Services Examination to make a career.
He had joined BJP and did his best during his time in the party in  various fronts and currently he is now working as a consultant at Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, he added.
After consulting with his family, he had decided to contest the election to fulfil the dreams of his late father but he has changed party to LJP from BJP, he added.
RK Suraj told the media that he had joined LJP with a firm believed on the ideals set by the late leader of LJP Ram Vilas Paswan. Ram Vilas Paswan had worked throughout his life to uplift the Dalit community and had a firm believed that without proper economic development, the development of the State or the Nation cannot be achieved.
The same is true for Manipur where the economic development is still very poor, he added.
Infrastructural development has been the vision of many for a very long time but that cannot be achieved without economic development, he maintained.
LJP national secretary B Ruchida Sharma also announced appointment of RK Suraj as state general secretary (organisation).
She also said that LJP will contest the election in about 15-20 seats in the upcoming election and added that as of now, there is still no directives from the national leader Pashupati Kumar on how the election will be fought and regarding post-poll alliance.
However, as the party is part of NDA, the same might be followed in the State too.
Welcoming RK Suraj to the party, Ruchida Sharma said his presence in the party will further strengthen the party in the State.
Later Ruchida Sharma also met Governor La Ganesan the Director General of Manipur Police and Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District.
