Union MoS kickstarts visit with tree plantation drive

BISHNUPUR, Sep 21: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey arrived today as part of his North East region tour  kicked off his visit planting tree saplings at Sendra and distributed food grains under PMGKAY & NFSA to the beneficiaries at Kumam Mandop in Moirang.
The tree plantation programme held at Sendra was participated by Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba; Forest and Environment Minister, Awangbow Newmai; Thanga AC MLA, T Robindro; former Chief Secretary, O Nabakishore; BJP Bishnupur District Committee president, RK Bimola Devi; BJP Bishnupur Mandal president, N Radhumani Singh; Keinou GP Pradhan, Ng Sovana Devi; DC Bishnupur, Krishna Kumar and CAF & PD Commissioner, Bobby Waikhom.
Moreover, the food grain distribution programme held at Moirang was attended by Moirang AC MLA, P Sharatchandra; Bobby Waikhom and Krishna Kumar as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated that the benefits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative 'Digital India' appears to be effectively implemented and lauded Chief Minister N Biren Singh for successfully implementing various developmental schemes in the State.
The MoS further stated that India would not progress unless the North East region is developed while adding that the Central Government considers the region as one of the most important parts of the country and is focused on the all round development of the North Eastern States.
He added 'One Nation One Ration' card scheme has been effectively implemented in the State and lauded the State Government, officials and everyone involved in making the scheme a success.
Later the MoS met Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister N Biren Singh. He also interacted with BJP workers at the office of BJP in Nityaipat Chuthek.
MoS Ashwini Kumar Chaubey also felicitated prominent sports personalities from the State including Olympians Ksh Thouba, S Nilakanta, K Chinglensana, L Sarita and Sushila Likmabam at a program held at the Classic Hotel.
Speaking at the program, he said despite Manipur being a small State, the State has produced a number of successful sports personalities who have brought laurel to the country.
