125th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot celebrated

THOUBAL, Sep 21: A memorial function was held on Monday to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot at Palem Panthou Masaigol, Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai, Thoubal District.
The event organised by office bearers of Palem Panthou Masaigol was attended by Dr S Kumar, Director Saina Institute of Medical Sciences and International awardee; Yumnam Mahendra Kumar, president Palem Panthou Masaigol and National secretary of Dalit Sahitya Academy; Sk Wajit Shah, president MMWO; Manjit Sarangthem, former president of AMSU and Tekcham Rameshwor, International Teacher awardee as presidium members.
Floral tributes were also paid to a portrait of Hijam Irabot to mark the commencement of the event.
During the programme, Kh Kamala, secretary Palem Panthou Masaigol; Tekcham Rameshwor and Soibam Mangijao, meiteilon activist enlightened the gathering on the various activities carried out by Hijam Irabot for the welfare of the people.
