TAMENGLONG, Sep 21
The Joint Tribes' Council of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme has appealed to the people to come forward for the Chief Minister, N Biren Singh's visit at Tamenglong HQs on September 22.
A release issued by Joint Tribes' Council (JTC) clarified that the Chief Minister was invited by the JTC to lay foundation stone of some new developmental projects and to inaugurate completed projects like the 50 Bedded Hospital at District Hospital which will facilitate opening of 15 ICS beds to be constructed within October 2021 free of cost by an NGO, Teachers' quarter and Girls Hostel at EMRS Tamenglong, Oxygen Plant at Tamei and Tamenglong District Hospital, Playground at Tamenglong HQs, etc.
The invitation was extended with a sense of urgency as these activities would be restricted once the forthcoming election is announced, it added.
JTC reiterated its stand to defend the rights of the people and stated that the Chief Minister's visit on September 22 is not related to 'Go to H  ills' programme of the Government of Manipur and hence there is no truth to allege the JTC of selling off tribal rights whatsoever.
"There is no resolution or stand of either tribal bodies or the UNC to boycott the visit of the Chief Minister or the development initiatives of the Government of Manipur", it added
JTC further alleged, "there is no such mandated organisation as the Tamenglong Concern People's Forum (TCPF) to call a total shut down on September 22 at Tamenglong" and urged the individuals claiming to be the office bearers of the TCPF to stop confusing the people and clarify their position to the JTC at the earliest in public interest.
