Quick speed in picking up 2 suspects From Sept 22 to Sept 27

The prompt action taken up is acknowledged for it is not very often that one gets to hear the State police moving with such speed and dexterity. The last word is yet to be said but it is noteworthy that just 5 days after Athuan Abonmai was abducted and bludgeoned to death on September 22, the State police have pulled up two suspects and that too within 5 days, that is on September 27, which is swift. This much is noted and while it is the Court which will have the last say on whether the two are just suspects or actually had a hand in the abduction and murder of the late Abonmai, the swift action of the police should also be seen against the backdrop of the massive uproar the abduction and gruesome murder of the late man has evoked across the State. It is also significant to note that the name of the NSCN (IM) has been mentioned as the group via the complaint submitted to the Officer-in-charge of Lamphel police station that Abonmai has been abducted by cadres of the said outfit. The mention of the NSCN (IM) will obviously not come as much of a surprise to anybody for it is well known that there was no love lost between the armed outfit and the late Abonmai. Moreover as stated in this column on more than one occasion the abduction and murder of the late man could not have been the handiwork of any rag tag bunch of desperadoes but had the hall marks of a well organised group of people. This observation and the report submitted to the Officer-in-charge of Lamphel police, plus the fact that Tamenglong is thought to be a strong turf of the outfit fits snugly on the frame of the NSCN (IM) and this is something which cannot be dismissed with a wave of the hand.
Not at all related, but it is rather ironic that even as two suspects in the dastardly killing of Abonmai have been pulled  up with the NSCN (IM) named in a report filed with the Officer-in-charge of Lamphel police, the Government of India has reportedly invited the leadership of the said outfit to continue the ongoing political dialogue at New Delhi. The political dialogue will continue but it would do good for all that the late Athuan Abonmai belonged to the Zeliangrong community, which is identified as one of the tribes that make up the big Naga family and it is the Naga people which the NSCN (IM) is claiming to represent during the negotiations with the Government of India. Tough to see how well can the politics of peace and politics of terror and intimidation go together for peace to live up to the real essence of its term, but remember one life has cruelly been snatched away and not many will forget the battered face and body of the late Athuan Abonmai. Let the peace process continue and if any men of the NSCN (IM) were involved in the dastardly act of eliminating a man in the most barbarous manner imaginable, then let the outfit have the moral compunction to own up to the dastardly act. If it was not involved, then let it also spell this out but it should be able to convince the people that this is the truth and nothing but the truth.
