Centre signs one year ceasefire agreement with NSCN(K) Niki

Kohima, Sep 8 : The Government of India and the NSCN (K) Niki on Wednesday entered into a ceasefire agreement for a period of one year.
The agreement, aimed at bringing about “lasting peace in the State of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people”, was signed in Delhi by Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary to the Government of India, and NSCN (K) Niki representatives Nikato Pilot Sumi, supervisor of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), and Abel Zingru Thuer, a CFSB member.
As per the agreement, the ceasefire will be applicable for a period of one year with effect from September 8 till September 7 in 2022.
It will also be subject to adherence to the Ceasefire Ground Rules to be mutually agreed upon and signed by the two sides.   
The Ceasefire Ground Rules, it said, will be subject to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties.   A five member team of NSCN (K) Niki group was part of the meeting.
In 2015, the Centre had signed the historic “Framework Agreement” with the NSCN-IM.
The Naga national political groups (NNPGs), which is holding separate talks with the Centre had signed “Agreed Position” in 2017. Agencies
