Three arrested with Yaba tablet worth Rs 1.8 crore

Shillong, Sep 9: Three persons including a woman were arrested along with over 8,400 kg of Yaba tablets worth around Rs 1.8 crore in Shillong today.
The Superintendent of East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger said that the district ANTF along with personnel of Rynjah police station in presence of locality members conducted a search at the residence of one woman at Lapalang.
He informed that 8.471 kg of Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.8 crore in the international market were recovered from her residence.
The SP continued that the Yaba tablets were reportedly trafficked from Myanmar to be smuggled across the border to Bangladesh.
He further mentioned that two more suspects were also arrested later.
In this connection, a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 was registered at Rynjah police station.
