Held with hand grenades

IMPHAL, Jan 24 : A combined team of Imphal East police and a column  of 15 Assam Rifles arrested one person along with two hand grenades and  a demand letter from Khurai yesterday.
Briefing the media today, SP Imphal East M Pradip informed that the arrested person identified as  Haorungbam Yohenba alias Tamo alias John (31) s/o Sunil of Chalou Mayai Leikai was arrested while the combined team was carrying out a search operation at Khurai Heikrumakhong.
Claiming that the arrested person is an active member of National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) and responsible for the IED blast at Khurai Telipati, Lamlong Bobby Pharmacy and Kairang Muslim recently, the SP claimed that Yohenba also served a monetary demand of Rs 10 lakh to one  pharmacy at Sawombung Primary Health Center.
The demand letter which was delivered to the pharmacy has also been seized yesterday itself, the SP added.
From the disclosure of Yohenba, two hand grenades have also been seized from the top of Pidonu Hill near yesterday evening, M Pradip said and added that a case has been registered at Heingang police station.
The arrested person was also produced before the media after the briefing.
Haorungbam Yohenba has been sent to five days police custody till January 28.  
Imphal West police too continued its search operations at different localities in view of the Republic Day and State Assembly election.
