Assembly Secretary urged

IMPHAL, Jan 24 : A written submission has been filed before the Secretary of Manipur Legislative Assembly to prohibit Okram Henry Singh from contesting election for six years.
According to a reliable information, the application was filed by Advocate Longjam Birjit under the instruction of sitting Wangkhei AC MLA Yumkham Erabot.
The application mentioned that Y Erabot, after the 11th State Assembly election, accused O Henry of submitting false educational qualifications in his nomination paper in 2012 and 2017 Assembly elections and  demanded a disqualification of the latter.
The High Court of Manipur, after hearing the petition filed by Yumkham Erabot, declared the election of O Henry as null and void on April 15, 2021.
Further, Okram Henry challenged the verdict before the Supreme Court, however, the application was dismissed on November 17, 2021.
MPTCC unlikely to field candidate
IMPHAL, Jan 24 : The Manipur Pradesh Trinamool  Congress Committee (MPTCC) is not likely to field any candidate in the 12th Manipur Assembly election as no intimation has been received from the party head office at Kolkata till date.
In a statement, the MPTCC said that they, however,  will take the final decision after discussing with the party general secretary.
The MPTCC, on the other hand, said that their old  letterhead will no longer be valid as a new one has become effective from today.
