Blockade warned

IMPHAL, Jan 24 : Phaitoul village chief PM Thanga has informed that an indefinite blockade will be called along National Highway 37 from midnight of January 27.
Speaking on behalf of the 12 village chiefs of Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC), PM Thanga stated that the blockade is being staged against the non-payment of compensation to the landowners of the 12 villages whose properties were affected in the construction of NH-37 two-lane highway from Phaitoul segment to Sibilong village.
It may be noted that VACC had earlier cautioned the authorities concerned to pay the aforementioned compensation by January 25, failing which an indefinite blockade will be called along with the closing of all national projects.
