National Girl Child Day 2022 observed

As observed across the country, National Girl Child Day 2022 was also celebrated in the State on Monday.
As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority, Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) observed "National Girl Child Day" at Khangshim village, Machi Block, Tengnoupal district.
The programme began with a welcome address by Darngam Khaling, Member Secretary, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tengnoupal, said a release issued by DLSA Chandel.
R Moikham, secretary All Tribal Women Organisation (ATWO) also attended the event as resource person.
Meanwhile, DLSA Chandel also conducted a micro legal services camp on the theme "Empowerment of Tribal women through livelihood support and skill development" at Chandel District Headquarters.
Women beneficiaries from various villages of the district were enrolled for "Weaver cards" at the camp.
TAMENGLONG
In line with the observance of National Girl Child Day and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (East) organised a one day "Beti ki Sehat" medical camp.
Doctor and Paramedical staff of the battalion conducted free medical checkup and distributed free medicines to the people of Kahulong village in Tamenglong district, said a release issued by PIB Defence Wing.
THOUBAL
DLSA Thoubal under the aegis of MASLSA also organized a webinar cum observance of National Girl Child Day through Jitsi Meet video conference platform.
Addressing the webinar, Binny Ngangom, Chairperson, DLSA Thoubal stated that National Girl Child Day is observed to prevent discrimination of girl child and women in work-place and other areas.
Bantee Singh Konthoujam, Joint Director (ICDS), Nodal Officer (PMMVY), Social Welfare Department delivered a lecture on "Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana''.
S Rameshwar Singh gave the welcome address while M Sanahal Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
The event was participated by Bineshwori Maibam, Secretary, DLSA Thoubal; PLVs and Panel Lawyers, persons nominated by Legal Aid Clinics from Thoubal & Kakching and inmates from Iramdam Ningol Sanglen Open Shelter Home for girls, Wangbal.
