2 deaths, 418 new cases logged

IMPHAL, Jan 24 : Manipur witnessed two deaths, 418 new cases and a daily positivity rate of 18.1 percent in the last 24 hours  even as two districts, Pherzawl and Noney registered zero cases. This is the third day on the trot that Pherzawl has registered zero case but this time six samples were tested.  At Noney only 3 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The two deaths were reported from Kakching and Senapati,  said the COVID-19 Common Control Room, quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
Of the two, one of them had received the second dose of the vaccine while the other was not vaccinated at all. Both had co-morbidities and with the addition of two more, the cumulative number of deaths has risen to 2027.
The 418 people who tested positive included 15 Central security personnel taking the total number of positive cases in the State to 1,30,490 including 4883 Central security personnel.
The positive cases were detected at RIMS (23), JNIMS (98) and other testing centres (297).
The 403 positive cases from amongst the civilians are from Imphal East (72), Imphal West (235), Thoubal (19), Bishnupur (18), Kakching (8), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (4), Jiribam (3), Ukhrul (5), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (6), Senapati (7), Chandel (7) and Churachandpur (14).
Altogether 333 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room but added that 46 persons were reported as discharged only today. After reconciliation from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation team and hospitalisation team, the total number of people discharged is taken as 379, it said. On January 23, a total of 1010 vaccines were administered, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room and added that the cumulative doses administered so far is 24,36,837 including 10,32,925 second dose and 15289 precautionary dose.
The overall percentage of vaccination continues to be poor with just 44.12 percent of the eligible population having received the second dose and 57.99 percent the first dose. The hill districts particularly, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, Kamjong, Senapati, Noney, Tamenglong, Pherzawl continue to come way down on the vaccination table.
Jiribam, Imphal West and Imphal East top the vaccination table in Manipur.
On January 23, a total of 374 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 69 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
