R-Day rehearsal

Imphal, Jan 24 (DIPR) : Ahead of Republic Day 2022, a full dress parade rehearsal was held at Imphal, this morning.
The rehearsal parade which commenced from 1st MR parade ground  headed towards Kangla before returning to the starting point again.
Altogether 17 contingents will march on Republic Day.
The day will be observed in Imphal and all district headquarters including Sub-Divisional Headquarters.
The celebration, however, will be scaled down due to the Covid pandemic.
Governor La Ganesan will receive the salute at Kangla while Chief Minister N Biren Singh will give vote of thanks at 1st Bn  Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal.
Commanding Officer of 9th IRB Kh Sarma Devi has been chosen as the parade commander.
Reception ceremonies and other follow up events such as cultural programmes and beating the retreat have been dropped due to COVID-19.
The Traffic Control Police has already issued a notification enforcing traffic diversions on various major roads in the State capital for  smooth celebration of the Republic Day.
