IMPHAL, Jan 27 : Sanction order for Rs 87 crore including a Central share of Rs 50 crore and a State share of Rs 37 crore meant for the wages of job card holders under MGNREGA was passed today by the RD & PR Department.
As per information received from the department, for the financial year 2020-21, the department had sanctioned Rs 852 crore (Rs 737 crore Central share and Rs 115 crore State share) meant for 60 work days for all job card holders in the State. The 60 work days is 9 days more than the National average.
The State has also been able to give 52 days of work to the job card holders in the current financial year and for this Rs 793 crore  have already been released.
With the sanction issued today for Rs 87 crore, the wages for job card holders will be deposited in their personal bank accounts very soon. The process to release the remaining Rs 113 crore has already started and will be approved at the earliest.
The department also appealed the PRI to refrain from any form of protest including bandhs.
