5 deaths, 753 cases logged in last 48 hrs

IMPHAL, Jan 27 : Altogether Manipur reported 5 deaths due to Covid in the last 48 hours and 753 new cases during the same period to take the total number of deaths due to the virus to 2036 and the cumulative number of positive cases to 1,31,704 including 4905 Central security personnel.
On January 26, Manipur logged 3 deaths due to COVID-19 from Imphal West (1), Bishnupur (1) and Ukhrul (1) and on January 27, the two deaths were reported from Imphal East (1) and Ukhrul (1).
The two persons whose demise were reported on January 27 have had two vaccination shots and were both suffering from co-morbidities.
The number of persons who returned positive results on January 26 was 388 including 4 Central security personnel and on January 27 the number of infection was reported at 365 inclusive of 3 Central security personnel.
According to a statement from the COVID-19 Common Control Room the 365 on January 27 positive cases were detected at RIMS (44), JNIMS (24) and other testing centres (297).
The 362 civilians who tested positive and whose report came on January 27 are from Imphal East (95), Imphal West (145), Thoubal (25), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (13), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (5), Ukhrul (4), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (5), Noney (1), Senapati (4), Chandel (5) and Churachandpur (27).
All necessary medical precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing have been taken up.
On the other hand, a total of 347 persons were discharged, said the January 27 update and added that they were discharged from home isolation (243), RIMS (13), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (86). The recovery rate is 95.60 percent and the number of recovered cases is now 1,25,908 including 4658 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 3760 inclusive of 240 Central security personnel.
Only 44.33 percent of the eligible people have been fully vaccinated as on January 27 and 58.17 percent have received the first dose of the vaccine.
On January 26, the total number of vaccine administered is 2278 to take the cumulative doses to 24,57,958 including 10,37,832 who have received the second dose. So far 20,242 precautionary vaccines have been administered.
The hill districts continue to come down on the vaccination table with Kangpokpi and Ukhrul occupying the lowest two spots on the table. The other hill districts save for Chandel continue to have vaccination coverage below the 50 percent mark.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 451 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 112 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
