Bandh affects

IMPHAL, Jan 27 : The 36 hour bandh called by Manipur State Panchayat Parishad from  6 am today affected normal life in the State today.
During the bandh called against the non-release of MGNREGA fund under 15th Finance Commission, members of Panchayati Raj Institute and numerous supporters of the bandh blocked roads at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Sawombung, Top Dussara, Kyamgei, Takyel and Uchiwa which affected normal flow of traffic in these areas.
The police dispersed the bandh supporters and normal flow of traffic was restored in the afternoon.
However, the bandh didn't have much impact in Imphal and urban areas.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, convenor of PRI Adhoc Committee and pradhan of Waiton GP, P Surbala said if the Government does not fulfil the demand of the PRI and release the fund meant for MGNREGA under the 15th Finance Commission, PRI will be forced to take up stronger forms of protest.
