IMPHAL, Jan 27
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged all the authorities of educational institutions concerned in the State to refrain from charging extra examination fees for Class X, XI and XII.
DESAM in a press release has alleged that some educational institutions in the State are charging extra examination fees against the fees set by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) and termed it as an act against the welfare of the students.
Alleging that even the Government institutes are also charging additional examination fees, the student body appealed to all authorities concerned to stop the act and refund the extra fees taken at the earliest.
Maintaining that it is not called for to charge additional fees when the State is gruelling under the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, DESAM said that the authorities concerned should be considerate and take up measures accordingly for the well being of the people and to help in alleviating their hardships rather than adding more woes to their problems.
Stating that DESAM has been striving for the welfare of the student community in the State and is strictly against commercialization of the educational sector, the student appealed to all concerned to stop charging extra examination fees and refund the additional fees if taken at the earliest.
DESAM further cautioned that they will make the names of the educational institutes public if such acts are continued and any complaints are received in this regard and will take up strict measures accordingly.
The student body also informed students and their guardians to contact at mobile numbers-7005294885/7005291834/7005055378 if one comes across that additional examination fees are being charged.
